How did I end up here?

Republicans....

Enough said. What is wrong with these people? I would describe myself as left of center, I would describe these Republicans as, well I won't go into it.

Did Newt Gingrich really say on TV that the GOP did not go after Foley because they did not want to appear to be gay bashing? What the hell does being gay have to do with being a pedophile? The man wrote explicit e-mails to underage boys, true he may be gay, but that is clearly a pedophile. He knew these boys were underage and he knew the rules because he helped write the laws....what the hell is wrong with people?

The Speaker of the House will not resign and yet he says the bucks stops with him....hey, if it really does..see ya! You must be pretty poor because it appears that no bucks ever stopped with you. I can't even say anything without getting too worked up.

I'm just dumbfounded and speechless. This does not happen to often.

Today I hate my job...

So, I got a "promotion" at my second job, yeah me. Too bad I can't tell anyone, at least not for now. Everyone keeps asking me why I work two jobs and although I continue to say the answer is money, I think the answer is so much bigger than that. Sure, I need the money and it comes in handy, but I think I work my second job for a sense of accomplishment.

My career choice does not always provide me with any sense of accomplishment. There is barely any recognition and some days I find myself feeling like I talk to myself all day because it is very evident that no one else is listening. At least at my other job they say thank you or please or good job. My career choice usually says, "You are not doing enough. I need more from you. Why is this so late?" Well, let me tell you why - I am doing the job of two people by myself and you barely pay me adequately for the job I do. Why does it seem that no matter how much I give to them they want more? I do have a life out side of work! (Well maybe not much of one) Just because you work 24/7 does not mean I intend to. If you want faster results and a greater breadth of accomplishments than get some help in here. Oh, that's right I work in a non billable division. If I am not making money I can't eat up money, so pay me peanuts and let me drown. That will show me. To add insult to injury please ignore anything I request and all of my e-mails or voice messages, make me hunt you down and be put in a submissive position. Why don't I just bend over so you can kick my ass - it would be less humiliating!

Damn this place sucks today......I think I need some Ice cream.

The Downfall of American Society...

I know now what has caused the downfall of American Society....lienent return policies. I know what you are thinking, "This girl is out of her mind!", but hear me out. When did we turn into a disposable society? My second job is with a highly respected retail outlet with a very generous return policy and it is there that I see where America's downfall has begun.

When did it become OK to return every item in your closet that my employer sells whether it is 5 years old or ten years old? What happened to the days of you buy it you own it? Do we have no conscience anymore? Do you really want me to touch your ratty, 10 year old bathrobe or smell those shoes you have been wearing for 10 years? When one thinks it OK to never be held accountable for what they do or own their conscience disappears.

I know all about businesses wanting to please their customer, but to what extent? If I teach my kid (OK - I have no kids, I'm speaking figuratively here) that he/she can beat the hell out of their book bag, with no regard to how much it costs to buy one, because the store that sold it to us will just give us another one, what have I really taught him/her?

When I was a kid, if we abused our book bag we went without or we had to save up and buy the second one ourselves. My mother never said, "Oh, you need a new bathrobe, let's take this 10 year old, smelly robe back to the store and get a new one" You all get my point....

The bottom line is that these wonderful customer service policies have created a generation of consumers who think that everything and everyone is replacable and that is just not true. It teaches them that it is OK to cheat the system. Yes, if your 10 year old bathrobe had a manufactural defect you should get a new one, but just because you WANT a new one does not mean you can return it. Lying to get a new product is still lying and is that what we want to teach out young people?

If you want to fix society start with the return policies......
